Date: Friday 20th November
Time: 2pm
Meeting point: Outside Sandwell Council House
Organised by: IMAN (a coalition of Sandwell Muslim Organisations, Mosques & Partners) are organising a ‘Muslim against ISIS (ISIL)’ peace gathering on Friday 20th November, after Jummah prayers.
Let us all come and stand together as a show of strength.
We are profoundly saddened by the tragic loss of innocent lives in Paris. Our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims, and the entire French nation.
Residents and workers of Sandwell from all backgrounds, of any faith or none, any culture, and all communities all stand together as one. We are horrified by those senseless criminals who simply seek to divide our communities through terror and hatred, against which we all stand united so that it will never succeed. These abhorrent fanatics truly are twisted extremists, trigger happy terrorists and should be dealt with as the worst type of criminals, that have no faith, but simply they are inhuman, not fit for any society.
There is no justification for murder, and all British faith communities agree that those who commit acts of violence cannot do so in the name of any faith. Any such claim is illegitimate. British Muslim communities are equally appalled by the violence, and angered by those who commit abhorrent acts in the name of their religion. The perpetrators do not represent us; their views are perverse and self-serving. They do not represent the majority of the mainstream global Muslims, no true Muslim can ever support or condone these reprehensible inexcusable attacks.
Let us not play into their divisive narrative, and instead show them that people of all faiths and none can live peacefully, together.
It is evil people who do evil things; such acts will only increase our resolve to remain united as one.
Let us stand together against all forms of terrorism and violent extremism.
