YCA Community Champions 2013

The Yemeni Community Association in Sandwell Management Committee every year nominates Community Champions to acknowledge and recognise their positive contributions to the advancement, development and meeting the needs of members of the community in Sandwell.

This year the following Community Champions have been recognised for their excellent contributions and for putting the needs of the community first:

Liz Nembhard
The first award goes to Liz Nembhard from Sandwell Council.

Liz has been a source of strength and support for the Yemeni community and is always in her work demonstrating unwavering commitment to putting the needs of communities in Sandwell first.

Liz provides a strong link between the community and the Council. In her work, Liz always demonstrates commitment, genuineness, care and overall is a person who always puts the needs of the people of Sandwell first in everything she does.

 

Richard Holder
The second award goes to Richard Holder from West Midlands Police.

Richard is affectionately known to his colleagues and Friends as “Noddy Holder”.

Richard is the link that we currently have with the Police and in his work, Richard always endeavours to promote the needs of the community, keeping the community safe and is continuously approachable providing information and support for the Yemeni community.

 

Arwa Almuflahi
Finally the third award goes to Arwa Almuflahi.

We are proud to recognise that Arwa is the first lady of the YCA as she became the first female to hold the position of chair of the Management committee in the early history of the association.

Arwa has also served as a management committee member for a number of years, has made a positive contribution to the development of the organisation and is a positive role model for Yemeni women in Sandwell.
